Privacy policy

BeforeShip is a Shopify app. Merchants install it. Shoppers never create a BeforeShip account and never see the name BeforeShip.

What we process

Only what the app needs to let a shopper change shipping address or phone, cancel before packing, and to generate a branded invoice and packing slip:

• Shop domain, store name, currency, and the merchant’s branding (logo, address, tax id, reply email).
• Paid online order id, order name, paid time, totals, line items, gift note.
• Shopper name, email, phone, shipping and billing address.
• Invoice / packing-slip PDFs we generate.
• Plan, order-count caps, and Shopify Billing charge ids.

We do not use this data for ads, resale, or profiling. We do not train models on it. POS orders are not counted and are not a product surface.

Why

To run the edit window, hold the order in Shopify, email the shopper an edit link and invoice, print a packing slip for the warehouse, and bill the merchant through Shopify Billing.

Where it lives

Data is stored on our app host and sent over HTTPS. Shopify remains the system of record for the order. We do not move merchant data to GroMo or any other product.

Retention

Order and shopper records stay while the app is installed and needed for invoices, packing slips, and caps. When Shopify sends a customers/redact webhook, we delete that customer’s orders and PDFs. 48 hours after uninstall, Shopify sends shop/redact and we delete the shop, sessions, orders, and PDFs. We keep only what Shopify Billing requires for the charge itself.

Merchant and shopper rights

Merchants can uninstall anytime. Shoppers request access or deletion through the store; Shopify fans that out to us via mandatory compliance webhooks, which we honor. Email support@beforeship.org for anything else.

Subprocessors

Shopify (Admin API, Billing, webhooks). Our hosting provider for the app process and database. Email delivery for shopper and merchant notices. Cloudflare for this website. We do not sell personal data.

Children

The app is for merchants. It is not directed at children.

Changes

We will update this page if the product’s data use changes. The date at the top is the current version.
